Overtreating men with Injectables – Don’t do it

I have always said as an educator of other injectors ‘Just because you CAN do something does not mean you SHOULD’.

As injectors we have a set of tools to make you look more rejuvenated, more handsome, more beautiful.  But when these treatments are applied to the face with no consideration of the overall result you can get problems.

Recently this photo of Simon Cowell hit the news. So what has happened here?

From my own opinion I would say

  • The injector has overtreated the forehead with muscle relaxant injections.  This results in a dropping of the eyebrows. Personally I like forehead wrinkles on men and I try my best to convince them not to do it.
  • The injector has overtreated the Crow’s Feet with muscle relaxant injections.  This has resulted in what we call ‘shelfing’. In other words, the eye muscles are paralyzed to the point the patient can’t even use them.  This results in an appearance of dead eyes. No emotion present. No genuine smile. This can be avoided but takes skill.
  • The injector has placed the cheek filler at the front.  This creates a creepy, doll like appearance. The filler should have been placed more laterally (to the sides) and blended up into the eye area.  This would have created a more chiselled masculine look.

Just because we can inject fillers and muscle relaxants doesn’t mean we should. Also the differences between males and females must be respected.  Below is one of my masculinization filler treatments. Note it looks natural and handsome. Not weird.
